Are you concerned about your child’s progress at school?
Four in ten children in mainstream schools may need some form of additional support at some point in their school life and those with the greatest level of challenge may be identified as having a special educational need.
Every parent I know feels the need to be their child’s advocate if all is not well at school.
The better the communication and collaboration between home and school the better the relationships and outcomes for the children.
As an ex SENCO, I have seen the enormous and ongoing commitment and hard work put in by school staff.
I have seen how children most in need are rightly prioritised but I have also seen that schools can sometimes do more when parents are vocal and politely persistent.
My role at Essential Consulting is to support you in meetings with the school.
My personal message to parents and carers:
I will do everything in my power to guide you through the complex process of getting the right help for your child.
Ensuring that teachers are aware of and celebrate your child!s unique strengths is the first crucial step. Following a discussion to identify any barriers to learning that your child is experiencing, an action plan will be drawn up, describing the strategies, approaches and additional support that will be required together with timescales for implementation and monitoring arrangements.
I guarantee that you will see an immediate improvement after our first meeting with the school.
